NIKKI SIXX's 'Sixx Sense' Launches on Tampa's 98Rock

February 15, 2012

On the heels of MÖTLEY CRÜE's debut in Kia's "Drive the Dream" Super Bowl commercial and being the first hard rock band to ever launch a Las Vegas residency at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino through February 19, international rock icon Nikki Sixx is celebrating the launch of "Sixx Sense With Nikki Sixx" on Tampa's top rock music station 98Rock/WXTB-FM. "Sixx Sense With Nikki Sixx" debuted this past Monday night, February 13, in the station's 7 p.m. to midnight weeknight timeslot.

The addition of 98Rock marks the two-year anniversary of the Premiere Networks syndicated program, which launched nationally in February 2010 and is currently heard on nearly 90 affiliates nationwide reaching 2.6 million weekly listeners (source: Arbitron, SP'11, Nationwide, Exact Times, Cume, P 12+). In the key demo of Adults 25-54, "Sixx Sense With Nikki Sixx"'s AQH increased 52% from 2010 to 2011 (source: Arbitron, SP'10-SP'11, Nationwide, Exact Times, AQH, A 25-54).

Sixx stated, "98Rock has been a staple in building the careers of rock bands for as long as I can remember. With dedicated listeners like they have, I am beyond ecstatic and honored to be part of the legacy."

"We're stoked to have Nikki Sixx joining the 98Rock family. His career and show carry the same swagger as the radio station, and 'Sixx Sense' will offer a different flavor to night time radio in Tampa Bay," stated 98Rock Program Director Mike Killabrew.

Each night on "Sixx Sense", the international rock icon, founder/bassist/songwriter of the world-renowned band MÖTLEY CRÜE and chart-topping band SIXX: A.M., two-time New York Times best-selling author, clothing designer, philanthropist and photographer Nikki Sixx discusses music and lifestyle topics as he gives listeners a backstage look at the world and mind of a rock star. Joined by co-host Kerri Kasem, Sixx provides his unique perspective and attitude as the duo welcomes celebrity guests, recording artists and fascinating characters from all walks of life. All this and more are coupled with the radio station's playlist. The show is complemented by "The Side Show Countdown With Nikki Sixx", which is available for air on weekends between 6 a.m. and midnight local time. Each weekend, the radio host and tastemaker introduces his personal new music picks, as well as plays an array of what's happening on the rock charts, and shares his own special brand of talk radio with celebrities and other guests. "The Side Show Countdown", which premiered on 98-7fm in July 2010, continues to air on more than 40 stations worldwide. In addition to success on the radio dial, the "Sixx Sense With Nikki Sixx" channel is available on Clear Channel Radio's digital platform iheartradio and XM Channel 164.
